I hope all of you have had a good summer break. We are so excited to get the new school year started! We have made it through many challenges together to get to this point of returning to school.
Our plan is to have all students return to school in a full day schedule. We will be wearing masks at this time, until health recommendations change. We will be having normal recess schedules and we will be serving breakfast and lunch every day. At this time, we will not be having large group events in person (Back to School Night, etc.), and we will not be able to have visitors on campus.
We have a great deal of work to do together this year as we work on making the progress and learning outcomes that we want our students to be able to reach. We have lots of plans to develop opportunities to make sure that student voice is included in our activities and school plans. We also have lots of plans to increase inclusion practices for ALL students on our campus.
Additionally, we have done a lot of work to make sure that we are supporting all of our students in returning to school for the first time in a very long time, and for many who are coming to our campus for the first time ever. We will be teaching our “PBIS” (Positive Behavior Interventions Supports) systems to all classes from the first day of school and beyond. That means that we have clear procedures and expectations that all students will learn, as well as systems to recognized students for their work and progress.
Finally, I would like to extend a warm welcome to a few new people to our Wildcats. We have Ms. Sharma joining us as vice principal, Ms. Dahalig joining us as our 5th grade teacher, and Ms. Heisdorf joining us as our new 1st/2nd grade teacher.
See you soon!
Principal, Babcock Elementary
A Message from Ms.Sharma
I am honored to be Babcock Elementary’s Vice Principal for the 2021-2022 school year. The last four years I was the Vice Principal at Regency Park elementary school with Twin Rivers. Before being a Vice Principal I held many other roles. I was a TOSA (Teacher on Special Assignment), learning coach, Art integration specialist, para-educator but most of my career was spent as a classroom teacher with North Sacramento. I taught fourth grade for most of my teaching career. I absolutely loved being a teacher, and I still enjoy being in the classroom alongside students. That is where you will find me during most of my day.
On a personal note I have two amazing boys who bring me lots of joy. My oldest is four and half and the little guy is two. We spend most of our vacation time near the beach. When I am not at work I enjoy reading, spending time with my family, dancing and working out.
I look forward to working with the amazing team at Babcock elementary.
Working together, I am confident that we will make Babcock an even better place to learn and grow.
